Act One
Before the Lobotomy from American Idiot (Sam)
Sam is in college, living with his girlfriend, Jessica. He has a dream about his family, specifically about Dean, and is disappointed when he wakes up and discovers it was only a dream. The next day, Dean shows up.

Dean watches over Sam who has been stabbed to death and tells him how he always tried to protect him but now feels he’s failed. He then makes a decision to make a deal with a demon to save Sam’s life.

Dean tries to convince Sam and himself that he’s not afraid about going to hell.

Sam and Dean try to find a way to save Dean from going to hell, determined not to give up. Then, after an encounter with a dream version of himself, Dean wonders if he’ll be missed when he dies.
