para's party of poppers

Hey gs!

Yikes I have 7 days left and 21 more questions!

But there's so much great fic in the world in the problem.

Well here's this.

Top 10 worst fathers

10. Nathan Petrelli (Heroes)
"I'm not pretending, Claire. Most people think the worst of me and I've probably given them a good reason to, but I want to do better. I want to be there for you.
Okay, yeah, Nathan thought Claire was dead for the first 15 years of her life. But once he found out she was alive she he just wanted her to disappear.  And then, yeah, he gave her a free pass in season 4, but thanks to his actions she still ended up being kidnapped. Plus, if you think he treats his illegitimate daughter badly, that's nothing compared to how he treats his two sons that he completely forgets about after his brother dies. So yeah. I mean, Nathan isn't a bad guy...but he isn't a very good father either.

9. John Winchester (Supernatural)
"You're the one who said don't come back, Dad. You were the one who closed that door, not me!"
Oh John.  I love how you had three sons and somehow managed to convince all of them that you hated them the most.  I mean, there's Dean who thought that you arguing constantly with Sam was a sign that you cared more about him.  Plus you put all kinds of weight on his shoulders when he was far too young, made him feel like the only way he was worth anything was if Sammy was safe, abandoned him without explanation when you caught scent of the demon, and even  in your last moments of life you still managed to give him even more to worry about with this cryptic message that he would have to kill his own brother.  And then there's Sam, who probably was too much like you for his own good and for that you two could never get along. But you didn't have to be so hard on him just because you're hard on yourself.  And I know you were trying to protect him but you really needed to let him live his own life.  And you didn't need to keep him in the dark all the time especially about things that are critically related to him. The disproportionate amount of trust you put in Dean than in Sam only made Sam believe that you liked Dean better. And then, there's Adam. I mean it's harder for me to see Adam's point of view on this because of my burning hatred for the guy, but okay what is he supposed to think when you spend one or two days a year with him and then then run off to (I guess Adam would assume) spend the rest of your days with your two "real" sons? Obviously, you just love them more.  On the other hand, Sam and Dean see that John gave Adam a real childhood with birthdays and baseball games and he got a real mother and real home and he got to go to the same school and didn't have to make new friends ever two week and they got crappy motel rooms and Christmas's alone and training and hunting and days on end not knowing if you were even going to make it back to them. I mean there's not a doubt in my mind that John loved all of this sons. But was he good at showing it? Definitely not.

8. Odin (Thor)
"You are unworthy of these realms, you're unworthy of your title, you're unworthy of the loved ones you have betrayed."
Odin's parenting tips: when your child misbehaves, kick him out of the dimension.  Also it's fine to adopt a baby then not tell that baby he is secretly an frost giant, and tell him yeah sure maybe you can be king one day lol. But haha no because he is a frost giant and he is dumb.

 7. Maury Parkman (Heroes)
"No! I'm not scared of you anymore! I'm a good man! I'm a cop! I'm a good father, which is something you know nothing about. You don't know what it's like to fight for someone that you love; you left. You left. All you have left are your nightmares."
Doesn't this guy just look like a bad father? Isn't that all the explanation this needs? Okay let see he abandoned his son (and gave him $120 which is supposed to somehow make up for it???) And then years later when they meet again he traps his son in a nightmare...and then they meet again and he traps his son in another nightmare... And let's not forget he's been trapping his son's "daughter" in a nightmare for like weeks.  Really, I don't know why Matt was actually somewhat upset when he found out this guy kicked the bucket...

6. Bob Bishop (Heroes)
"I was there when your father first brought you in. You were a normal girl - unicorns and rainbows. And then they started the testing. The human brain isn't built to take that much electricity. You poor girl."
Well, I hate Elle but it's not surprise she's messed up, seeing as her father allowed the Company  to experiment extensively on her, and then most likely told the Haitian to erase her memories of it. And then when she's an adult he basically treats her like a child and makes her feel inadequate.
5. Ed Singer (Supernatural)
"Punching women and kids.  Is that what they call fatherhood in your day?"
Well, this guy is physically and psychologically abusive to his family, and as far as I can tell has absolutely no reason to be, so...yeah, I'd call that a bad father.

4. Arthur Petrelli (Heroes)
"You don't have your powers anymore, Peter. Because I have them now."
Well, let's see. Arthur clearly favored Nathan over Peter when they were growing up, disapproved of Peter's career choice to the point of not paying for Peter to go to medical school and not even congratulating him when he succeeded on his own. Then tried to have Nathan killed, paralyzing his wife in the process, then faked his own death, disappeared for a year, stripped Peter of his powers, tried to have Peter experimented on, then tried to have Peter killed, told a serial killer he was his father, and manipulated all three of them to carry out his evil plot. But other than that he's great!

3.  Anthony Cooper (LOST)
"There is no "why." You think you're the first person that ever got conned? You needed a father figure and I needed a kidney."
Well, its your classic case abandoning your son, then conning him into giving you his kidney, then throwing him out a window.

2. Samson Gray (Heroes)
"Fish gotta swim. Birds gotta fly. You have to kill. It's who you are."
So here's an idea. Sell your son. Kill his mother while he watches.  Disappear forever, then when he finds you, act flippantly about the whole situation, try to cut open his head, and give him some bad advice.
1. God (Supernatural)
"And then he asked all of us to bow down to you. To love you more than him. And I said, Father, I can't. I said these human beings were flawed, murderous. And for that, God had Michael cast me into Hell."
Well God played favorites, manipulated his children, abandoned them, refused to take responsibility for his actions, punished his children way too severely, pinned them against each other, and worst of all, he never calls.

In conclusion, the worst fictional fathers are:
1. meanies
and/or
2. simply careless
